So after having a great night and partying it up at the ppc.bz party I went back to walk to floor of the conf again. It was strange because I’d say there were about 1/3 of the people there walking around compared to the day before. It was alot easier to talk to people and get one on one time with new traffic sources. I also found it was easier to discuss marketing offers without other affiliates overhearing.It really sucks when conf is only a couple days, well 2 at the most. Everything happens the first night and nothing usually the second. Conferences should be a mandatory 3 days so that there are enough things to do and enough time to go to the parties. It truly sucks when friends and companies fly in the day before and bounce the last day of the conf. The best part of the conference is being with people who get you, who understand you, and understand your business. Where we are from its hard to find people like us who do what we do especially at some of our ages who we can relate to.
So I walked around and picked up some schwag from some of the networks I work with. Eleah over at akmg was sporting their skate decks in style as always. I talked to her for a little on the floor. Poor thing she thought that the floor opened earlier than it did and ended up being really really early. I met up later with Laura from getads and picked up a hat from her as she was walking around. Alot of the hats and stuff you see being passed out are the cheap trucker mesh hats (I like this hat, its not cheap and is different than the other crappy ones being handed out). Its kinda of a cheap pain to have these and you know how much a network spent on some of this stuff. Being in this business for as long as I have you pass over alot of the shit you see due to having gotten or picked it up before. All the breath mints, weird shot drinks, doohickeys, flashy balls, and other shit is just extra weight to take back home and end up in the trash anyway.
I finished up the day with some lunch at a small little diner around the corner from the convention and then headed back to the hotel to rest and check up on some things. The rest of the night was pretty uneventful. I did have a nice time meeting up with some affiliates at the lobby of my hotel and hanging out with them and smaxor until we decided to play credit card roulette. Basically we had a bunch of drinks between us 6 affiliates and all threw our cards in and said pick one and charge it all to that. Unfortunately Max lost lol. I headed up to the room and called it a night.
