AdTechNYC13 and the HeavyT Recap

Nov 13, 2013

So its been a while since I posted on my blog and done a conference post. Last one I posted on was ASW and I did attend ASE in Philly. But Adtech NYC 13 was a pretty good conference for me overall. We headed out Tuesday morning to NYC for Adtech and flew first class on us airways leaving from DEN. We had a layover in Philly before heading over to LGA. After a short stint in the Us Airways Club on the new F terminal at PHL on the layover we headed to LGA and finally landed in NYC. Unfortunately even those we had priority on our bags they missed one and we had to run around the airport for the next 2 hours before finding it and heading to the city to our hotel. After finally getting to our hotel and settling in Jason Von Felt with Dan and the crew from Exclusive CPA hit me up for dinner. It was last minute and after calling around was able to make reservations for the 10 of us at Ruth Chris. It was already getting dark and we all grouped up and headed to dinner and on the way ran into one of the guys selling comedy tickets in times square. He did a pretty good upsell, I was impressed and I couldn’t complain about the downsell and upsell, so we all decided to get tickets and attend the show. After dinner we headed back to the hotel for a quick rest after dinner before heading over to the comedy show. It was hilarious to say the least, when guys in nyc talk about doing comedy is some back room and working their way up I know what they are talking about now but the majority of the comedians were very good. After the comedy show we parted ways and the group headed over to LeSouk and we headed to grab some street meat. It has been forever since I had Halal from the cart next to the Hilton. Yes I might have lost over 130lbs but I’m still a fat kid at heart and missed good food. After grabbing a combo plate...

ASW13 the HeavyT Recap

I decided to fly in Saturday morning to the conference and got in around 4pm. Since I’m living in Denver now I had to connect though phx but it was still cheaper then flying direct on frontier or united. When I got there I met up with my buddy Steve. I’ve known Steve for a while and I’m mentoring him. He has the drive and the hunger for this business and is really the only person I’ve considered mentoring. We hopped into the limo and headed over to Caesars to check in. Unfortunately the room wasn’t ready when we got there so since the bronco’s game was on we headed to the diamond lounge for high rollers and checked our bags and ate a little and drank while watching the game. At most Harrah’s properties the diamond lounges are provided to people with diamond or seven star statuses and inside they provide free drinks and an awesome food presentation at certain times throughout the day. I got a call that the room was ready so I headed up and got settled in and finished watching the game. After the game we decided to go get something to eat. Affiliate.com and Redirect.com were having a little get together over at old homestead, which is an awesome steak place in Caesars. On the way over I ran into Vito of cpatank, and who just started a new boutique network called OWN located at http://OneWorldNetwork.com which pays weekly and is so exclusive you can only get in by referral or by a player in the game. After talking to Vito about what he was up to with OWN we headed over to dinner. Scott and the crew always have a good time. The dinner went really well. This was this awesome seafood platter as an appetizer that was huge and had dry ice in it, the pics below don’t do it justice it was really big. Kevin from over at xy7 was also at the dinner sharing in the fun. After dinner I decided to head over to the Louis Vuitton store to pick up some goodies for me and one of my am’s. It’s not uncommon for me to reward my managers with gifts as well as networks returning the favor....

A4D Meetup 2012: Day 2

A4D Meetup 2012: Day 2

Mar 11, 2012

After a hard but eventful night of partying I got up and saw the sun peering through the blackout curtains in the room, I prayed for a second that the sun just rose but when I looked at the clock it was 8:30 ugh. Too many vodka redbulls. I quickly hopped into the shower and got ready and headed down to the conf rooms. I got there around 9:15 but the first actual speaker didn’t start till 9:30. The first person up was Nickycakes – nickycakes.com – who talked about inside strategies for building and optimizing campaigns using fb and google. The second person to speak was Stefan Gross – zeetogroup.com – How to grow and scale an affiliate business from one person to a whole company The third to speak was Rob Berkowitz – coastlawgroup.com – How to stay compliant and still make money. The fourth to speak was Zack Linford – conversionvoodoo.com – Top 5 tips to converting even higher. After the morning speakers a bunch of us headed over to dicks last resort for lunch. It was my first time eating here and it was funny as hell. The guy was such an asshole, I mean who knew there would be a place where you paid and tipped for bad service lol. I want to thank ted andy and the other guys from engage bdr for picking up the tab for lunch for everyone. I work with them and they are a great bunch of guys to know. After lunch we headed back to the conf. The fifth speaker was Alex Tsatkin – mobaff.com – What works on Mobile traffic… How to optimize mobile buys. The sixth Michael Fristch – Successfully starting and scaling in display buying. And last but not least jason Akatiff – oooff.com – creative ways to marry high volume traffic/needs with high dollar offers. All the speakers were amazing, it was a very good line up of affiliates and business owners in our industry. The topics and discussion was so broad it covered not one but many aspects of our industry so that everyone no matter what expertise they had walked away with a glimpse into how other peers run or operate their business....

A4D Meetup 2012: Day 1

A4D Meetup 2012: Day 1

Mar 10, 2012

I was in maui the week before the a4d meetup and took the redeye back to the mainland thursday night and got into san diego around noon. I made my way over to the hotel and checked in and grabbed some lunch with a buddy before hitting up the pool. I was really tired from the flight but I couldn’t sleep really cause I was so excited to be in san diego. It had rained the whole week when I was in hawaii so i really didn’t get to see much sun and then I land in san diego and it was 80 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. After the pool I got ready to head over to bar basic for pizza and drinks for the affs that got here a day early. I headed over to basic about 7:15pm and we didn’t leave till about 10:30pm. So many affs came in a day early and it was good to meetup and talk to all my old friends and make new ones. Jason was ordering pizzas left and right and as soon as a new one came out it was already gone, their pizza is so good. Basic started to get busy and fill up by 10:30 and as we all saw the blue hat roll out of basic everyone followed. We hit up the vip line and as everyone from basic rolled into the club we filled up the table area and the ropes were put out to keep everyone from bothering us. Then the bottles came sparklers and all. With the music playing and the drinks flowing we partied into the night and ended up shutting fluxx down. I can report that 3 people in our group got kicked out of the club, not at the same time tho. After fluxx we headed to mary janes to get drunk food with 3 of my friends and what do you know we all ordered hamburgers. After stuffing ourselves I headed to bed to wake up for the cof the next day. Overall it was a pretty eventful day and it was good to see everyone and have a little fun before we...
