I almost DIED. I was in the hospital, in Australia, for 3 months.

Some of you are friends on Facebook with me and have followed along the past couple months of what happened to me. Some of you might not know and wondered where I been and how come there haven’t been any updates on my blog. Long story short I was in the hospital in Australia for several months where I almost died. It all started on saturday night in early May. I got an email from my dad. My mom and him were on a cruise going around Australia. The email started with, “your mother had a stroke” my heart sank. I frantically searched for the emergency number for the cruise ship and called paying 9 dollars a minute to find out what was going on and what happened. After first calling the wrong ship, I finally go a hold of my dad and booked a flight out to Australia the next morning. The flight was 6am by the time I was done and off the phone with my dad it was 2am. I woke up a couple house later and packed my bags. I headed to the airport and got on the plane to PHL and then to LAX. When I landed at LAX I got a call that my cat had died while I was in flight I was upset but I needed to travel on. I landed at noon at LAX and the Quantas counter didn’t open till 3pm so I had to wait 3 hours in the terminal until I could check my bags. After I checked in my flight didn’t leave till 11pm so I had to wait in the chairmans lounge for 8 hours. Longest wait of my life, but the plane flight to Brisbane was 14 hours, more waiting. We got on the plane and then took off. I fell asleep about 3 hours in after watching the last season of mad men. When I woke up the captain was talking on the radio and I looked at my watch and we were 3 hours early wow he made great time. Then I heard the words “There was a medical emergency on the plane and we had to make the decision to turn around...

So I been traveling for the past two months and the short recap….

May 3, 2012

I been traveling the past two months all over the place for business and a little relaxation to some extent. Now I’m finally home and been catching up on some things. From my previous posts you could see that I visited Hawaii and then San Diego for the A4d Meetup that was just awesome as usual (thanks Jason and the good people at a4d for putting it on every year). I was all over the place traveling. I visited NYC, San Fran, ,Ft Lauderdale, Miami, Las Vegas, Denver, and Pheonix just to name a few. When I was in nyc I had a meeting with an ad agency and was staying at the london where George Lopez was having dinner and I was able to grab a pic with him outside really cool guy, there was also some british band there from one of the got talent shows. After there was adtech in San Fran which was a great show for me actually. I stayed at the clift and had a pretty nice suite. I met up with Rick and Nikki from h2h and talked a little biz as soon as they got in. My boy ytcracker joined in and it was a nice lunch. h2hinteractive.com isn’t so much as a network as it is an agency. Nikki has been wonderful to work with and they have some very good things going on over there. They have some really good offers and Rick has been in the business for many many years. I’d also like to mention that the guys over at engage bdr have an awesome new self serve platform that they demo’d to me and have been letting me play around with. It really blows any rtb selfserve I’ve used so far out of the water. Its called First Impression and you can see it at http://engagebdr.com/rtb/ I suggest you guys check it out. I also sponsored the marketers/aff ball and got a special thanks to my company on the passes as well as my blog logo and company logo flown all over the concert walls. It was a nice show and I had a good time while there, Rick from over at h2h had...

You were in Vegas? For a month? Yep I was…..

So right after Irene and ASE and LeadsCON I headed home for a couple days before I flew out to vegas. I was there to take care of some business which I had been working on for a while. While I was out there I was surprised at how many friends flew in and out to visit and join me and other affiliates who were out there at the same time. Some people think that a week in vegas is too long but if you do it right you can be out there for a while. While I did have some business meetings and go to the club a couple of times while I was there it isn’t all partying. I worked everyday from when I got up till about eod pst time. I like to travel alot and I like the change of pace and scenery. Vegas is so alive at all hours of the day, some days I didn’t go to bed till 9am others I went to bed at 2am but whenever I got back to my room I was grinding till I went to bed. Being a full time affiliate isn’t easy and truthfully there isn’t such a thing as a 4 hour work week but it allows you to work from any place you have power and an internet connection. I do gamble some times and I do get comped at the cosmo, mgm, and all harrahs properties but I also like to hotel hop, typically when I go I stay at 3 or 4 hotels just to get a change of environment since every hotel has a different theme. This time I stayed at the mandarin, planet hollywood, and vdara. Overall I had a wonderful time and I’m thankful that I’m able to get away and be able to work different places and have a good time doing...

Liquidweb, the tshirt, and who else I use.

Oct 30, 2011

A little while ago Liquidweb was having a giveaway contest on their facebook page. They had a bunch of free stuff to give away based on who commented first on a photo they uploaded. Since I follow them pretty closely and have dealt with them on twitter an on facebook keeping up with updates to their storm on demand cloud hosting and expansion I was able to get in on this contest fairly quick. I was one of the lucky people who won a tshirt from them and got it in the mail a couple weeks ago. Now to some people it might not be a big thing but being large, well lets just call it fat, by being fat not many take that into consideration but they had 3x shirts. This not only allows me to advertise their company but as some of you know if a company is worth it to me and provides a good service I will promote them as much as possible and this allows me to do so. As of late I’ve moved some of my stuff to another hosting provider because of what they have to offer Liquidweb doesn’t. I’ll be doing a post on this at a later time as I’m still evaluating the service and trying to push my setup to its breaking point (haven’t gotten there...

Its always interesting to see behind the scenes of fellow marketers and friends in the space. Just last week I was talking to a couple friends and asked them if they wouldn’t mind sending me some pictures of where they work from and what they actually work on. I’m gonna make this a multipart post and have a second one but these are the people that got back to me pretty quickly. As for my many of you have seen my setup with the pictures on my office page but now I work mostly from my macbook air or macbook pro. I myself have actually gone more mobile instead of staying in my office. But onto the setups and their locations.   Tijn works from here imrat.com http://twitter.com/#!/imrat   Amanda aka phillian http://twitter.com/#!/phillian and http://www.amandaorson.com/   The myth the man the legend Cheyyyaaboiii   Danish aka mr.websites http://twitter.com/#!/danizh   The boys over at the http://www.thelinkbuilders.com/ Nick and Rob   .hack http://twitter.com/#!/iamdothack  ...

Where I get my business cards, and you should too.

Where I get my business cards, and you should too.

May 12, 2011

This past adtech I got new business cards, it was time for an update to my old ones that I’ve had for a couple years. Everyone who got one of my cards loved them and commented on them and how nice they were. A couple even asked me where I got them from. The company I used was called Taste Of Ink. Now Taste of Ink is a full service company. They designed my card gave me a couple revisions, and then printed them. The overall process took a month from start to finish from submitting the initial design form to reviewing the revisions to printing them and getting them delivered. They do offer an expedited service but I choose not to use it. I ordered a sample pack of the types of cards they can do and the different design elements, I’ve included pics of the sample pack below. The service I received was nothing but stellar. They were always in constant contact every stop of the way and always answered my emails within a prompt amount of time. The ability this company has to design and print everything allowed me to keep everything in house. When I first submitted my design proposal they ask about your company, what you want to convey about your company, and any samples in their gallery that you like the design of. They also ask if you have any company logos or previous psd or ai files to help in the design. Design process takes about a week to week and a half and then the printing takes about the same amount of time. Overall I’m very pleased with the results, I really couldn’t be happier. If you are looking for a new redesign of your cards I highly suggest giving these people a try. For 15% of any online purchase on their site use the promo code “maypromo” and that code is valid until...
