I divorced my current webhost…..

I divorced my current webhost…..

Jan 29, 2012

As many of you know I’ve been a strong supporter of liquid web for many many years. As of today I no longer have any services with them. It was a tough breakup but it had come to this. Now don’t get me wrong it was nothing they ultimately did, and I would still recommend them to any of my friends or people looking to get sites hosted, BUT we just outgrew each other. Over the years I’ve used liquid web for everything but my needs continually grew. The support, staff, and attention to detail they had and still have is top notch. My requirements for speed and equipment just outgrew what they were able to provide. You see they couldn’t grow with me affordably. Now I have a couple servers and at one point I had over 15 at liquidweb. Then at another point in my need for expansion or consolidation I moved those servers to cloud and was amazed at their storm on demand system. I helped the staff, owner/ceo with my concerns and gave them feedback on what could be improved with their new cloud system. But now as of today I moved my cloud instance to a vps at another host. When I did this, it took over 5 hours to move my sites, yes 5 hours from their cloud system. I dunno what caused it but I patiently waited and now it is done. As of right now wallofmonitors is now on a vps at another host and as of 30 mins ago I destroyed my last cloud instance at liquidweb. You can say the divorce was amicable. I’ll still continue to support them and refer them to friends depending on their needs but i’m at a better host now, but i’ll save that for another blog...

How to make tons of facebook pics instantly!

How to make tons of facebook pics instantly!

May 2, 2011

There is a pretty nice way of being able to make tons of images for facbook really fast. When you open up photoshop create the size that facebook allows max, which is 80×110. From there add the images that you want creating a new layer each time as you go. From there resize each image so it only shows what you want it to in your ads. Now just follow the instructions below and it will output every layer to its own images quickly and automatically. Wallah now you were able to create a mass amount of facebook images for your dating, game apps, or any other fb campaigns you are running.   You can export and save layers as individual files using a variety of formats, including PSD, BMP, JPEG, PDF, Targa, and TIFF. Layers are named automatically as they are saved. You can set options to control the generation of names. Choose File > Scripts > Export Layers To Files. In the Export Layers To Files dialog box, under Destination, click Browse to select a destination for the exported files. By default, the generated files are saved in the sample folder as the source file. Enter a name in the File Name Prefix text box to specify a common name for the files. Select the Visible Layers Only option if you want to export only those layers that have visibility enabled in the Layers palette. Use this option if you don’t want all the layers exported. Turn off visibility for layers that you don’t want exported. Choose a file format from the File Type menu. Set options as necessary. Select the Include ICC Profile option if you want the working space profile embedded in the exported file. This is important for color-managed workflows. Click Run.  ...

Are you optimizing? How much revenue are you losing?

Are you optimizing? How much revenue are you losing?

Apr 27, 2011

When it comes to servers, landing pages, and content, optimizing is everything. Finding the best places to host your servers, finding the best places for your content, and finding the best plugins and modules on your servers for delivery. Just recently as I’ve been in vegas since adtech I’ve had some time to sit down and talk to my aff friends about this into some detail. We’ve gone over the datacenter discussion with some talking about liquidweb, others rackspace, some even hostgator and the planet. Whatever your preference is the one thing is common has been performance and optimization. Server wise its good to have a host that have alot of upstream providers, you want to host with someone who is well connected and uses tier 1 bandwidth providers. A lot of the good ones mentioned above are on backbones and can give greater availability and smaller access time for the content you are serving. If you are running a huge buy or advertising on ppv traffic and your host goes down you only really have yourself to blame. I’ve heard countless stories where affs get shitty hosting or don’t really allow themselves to understand the difference between a vps and an actual server and the big differences they have. Content delivery is another thing to consider. With CDN companies popping up all over its worth it to take a look around instead of just staying with a big guy like Amazon s3. There are so many networks out there which can do it better, just because its amazon doens’t always mean they know fully what they are doing. I’ve tested a coupel and found that s3 isn’t the best, its good but who wants to be good when you can be great. Look around there are better cdn’s out there. What http client are you using on your server? What modules have you installed? You’ll hear people talk about nginx, lightspeed, lighttpd, apache, and a couple more but which is better, what if you don’t install the correct caching module? The problem is all of these can be a great strength or it can be a great fault depending on how you configure...

Need an ad scraper? I use this, what peasant scraper you use?

Need an ad scraper? I use this, what peasant scraper you use?

Apr 7, 2011

Did you ever want a hand up on the competition to the point where you knew what they were running, where, and for how long? How about all the domains and or landing pages an affiliate is using? I’ve been given exclusive access to the scraper of scrapers that has been in the making for over a year. A group of very talented individuals in the aff space has decided to take adbeat on and slit their throats with this software offing competitive pricing and features that even rival the competition. While looking around this software the features are pretty amazing. I’ve been able to find some of the ads I’ve been running and even been able to find a couple domains that I been running on and my lp’s. The ease of use this software has is amazing. Just being able to cut down on the amount of actual money you spend testing by seeing what others are doing is a life saver. Whats better than seeing whats working now and has been for a couple days, no guess on which niches are working, just do a search see how long its been running and duplicate if you are that type of affiliate. http://www.whatrunswhere.com/ For internet marketers there’s nothing more important than data. It guides our every decision; from the places we advertise to the creatives we use to the pitches we use. It’s value is recognized by most, so this information is kept a closely guarded secret. WhatRunsWhere is your opportunity to open these secrets. We organize the chaos, monitoring text ads, text/image hybrid ads, and thousands of banner ad sources spread across tens of thousands of the most popular internet destinations.   Searching for ads By Company WhatRunsWhere makes it easy to search by traffic source, even without keywords. This will give you a clear idea of which ads are performing highly on which ad networks, creating the potential to spot trends on their way up, before they’ve been saturated by other advertisers. product.   Searching for Ads by Keyword/Topic WhatRunsWhere allows you to search not only the domain and ad text, but the text of the landing page behind the...

Had a meeting with the CEO of Liquidweb and the Executive Team

Had a meeting with the CEO of Liquidweb and the Executive Team

Mar 31, 2011

I just got got out of a conference call meeting with Matthew Hill and the Executive Team over at www.liquidweb.com to discuss Storm On Demand and the future of cloud hosting. Liquidweb will be adding some new features and addons to Storm On Demand in the coming months and they wanted to run these by me since I’ve been with them for so long and have been such a valuable customer of theirs. We discussed the different features of their Storm on Demand product and where it will head in the future. I talked about possibly adding a cdn as currently I use amazon for that. I had expressed my displeasure with the time associated with resizing an existing instance or creating a new instance. They told me that just recently they implemented a new sizing scheme that reduces the amount of downtime now. I also expressed the fact that they don’t ability to have a windows environment on cloud just yet but they told me it is definitely coming soon. One thing that I was insistent on was that they have a prescience at adtech and affiliate summits. I’ve seen softlayer at some of these events but I don’t like them at all and I would rather see a company that provides heroic support such as Liquidweb at these events instead. I’ve been a liquidweb client for over 7 years and while over this time I have had servers at other locations and datacenters the service and support I’ve received from liquidweb has been top notch. I have never had to pay for a support ticket the techs have always been helpful, and I’ve always been able to get someone on the phone within mere minutes after calling into their support or sales line. My history at Liquidweb has encompassed vps’s and shared accounts, to dedicated servers and cloud instances using their storm on demand product. There was at one point when I had close to 15 servers at Liquidweb and was paying a buttload of cash a month. I’ve always been treated well by their techs and even though there had or have been mistakes in the past they have always done...

Looking for a Myspace Myads Ad Manager? Look no further…..

Looking for a Myspace Myads Ad Manager? Look no further…..

Oct 21, 2010

As some of you know, and for those who don’t, one of the things I’m know for is the “Wall Of Monitors” on my desk. Truth of the matter is I used them to post and submit ads to a self serve social network platform AHEM across multiple accounts. I made a lot of money doing this but this now isn’t needed anymore. For a couple months I’ve been beta testing a new Ad Manager for Myspace Myads by one of my friends over at Masterdigmads located at http://www.masterdigmads.com/ and I must say it is absolutely amazing. These guys have put together a tool that uses the Myspace Myads api, which anyone can get access to, in order to submit, upload, create, split test, manage, all your Myads accounts and ads in one place. This tool has saved me so much time its not even funny. I would have to setup macros and it would take 15-20 mins and then I would let it run and walk away. When doing it the old way with my macros sometimes there would be errors, it would take a couple hours to submit ads, and I’d have to come back and check on my macros. This tool does it all in a matter of a couple minutes what took me 2-3 hours to do. The amount of time and effort I have to put in now is so little it allows me to concentrate on other campaigns or just go about my daily schedule. Now the guys over at Masterdigmads have decided to open up the tool to people who would be interested in using it. The api tool is a very robust tool encompassing a variety of solutions that many of us Myads users have encountered in the past. As far as what the tool can actually do a small list of some of the features as well as screen shots are located below. If any of you are Myads users and have looked for a tool that would take care and simplify a lot of work we already do with Myads this is the solution for you. The Masterdigmads team will be holding a webinar...
