Day 6 and 7 of trip to ADTech San Fran

Apr 30, 2010

Well day 6 was after the conference and it too was pretty much uneventful. I decided to sleep in and take it easy today. Wolf got up early and walked around the city some more. It was kind of an easy day. Wolf came back from walking around in the afternoon and we started hitting up the bar in the lobby again lol. Chilling there some other affs that were still in town stopped by and we ended up heading to a sushi place around the corner for a late lunch early dinner. Again nothing really happened and it was just a relaxing day. Day 7 I ended up heading home on the plane really early since my flight left at 7:15am from SFO. its nice to be able to cut the security lines with first class. Its such a pain such such a pain at large airports. On the plane we had breakfast and wow actual silverware. It was nice, not the best but eh its airplane food. Once I got into Charlotte I had a 3 hour layover again. So up to the club lounge I went. I chilled there on my macbook pro and talked to a couple people in irc, aim, and twitter. I then got on my flight to Philly which was delayed and had another layover for like 2 hours in Philly. Come to find out my plane was delayed again to my final airport of the night IPT. I dunno what it is but you don’t want to travel with me. My flights are always always delayed for some reason. I remember one time I was delayed and had to stay overnight at a hotel and in the morning my flight was delayed 3 times but luckily the hotel was paid for by the airlines. I finally got home Friday ngiht at 11pm est. I was tired and I had been traveling all day. Such is the life of an affiliate marketer attending conferences or wherever we may go. Looking back on this years adtech san fran it was a good conference. Alot of people said they didn’t get anything out of it and it was a...

Some of the best firefox plugins for affiliate marketers.

Some of the best firefox plugins for affiliate marketers.

Mar 17, 2010

Over the years I’ve come to rely on different firefox plugins that help me in my daily routine as an affiliate marketer. Every plugin is used for different tasks or different abilities and I will explain them to you and what I use them for. Some of these you will find useful and some you might not but they have all been added to my list of adons for every computer I use. 1. Live Http Headers I use this plugin to see where links are redirecting to. It allows me to find tracking links, jump links, and whre offers are redirecting or where they are having problems. 2. Down Them All I use this program to download lots of images from a directory that may be open or from a page or website wehre I want to pull all images or a certain file type. 3. Snap Links Plus This nifty little plugin allows you to highlight a section of a webpage with links and open up every link in a new tab. I love this plugin I use it daily. 4. Unlinker Sorta does what snaplinks does but when you are on a forum that has alot of images linked you can right click and unlink them and it will open up all the images in the page you are on. Its really handy for some of those picture threads on wickedfire. 5. Telify This plugin turns any phone number on a webpage into a click-able link to use with skype and making calls. I use it alot when I want to call a phone number that is located on a website and don’t feel like grabbing my cell or making an overseas call. 6. And most important of all Morning Coffee. Morning coffee is a plugin where you can set tabs in your browser like a bookmark with tabs. Say every morning I wake up and open up a tab for prosper maybe 3 or 4 networks and a couple places where I’m doing media buys I can save each tab to Morning Coffee. Then instead of having to type each address in I just hit the morning coffee button and...

Business cards for affiliate marketers. What to know, where to get them, what to do about them.

Business cards for affiliate marketers. What to know, where to get them, what to do about them.

Mar 15, 2010

Adtech is coming up soon in San Francisco and the Ads4Dough Meet-Up is taking place in just under two weeks. One of the most important tools an affiliate marketer can have is a business card. A business card should represent your name or brand and what you do. Throughout many of the conferences I’ve been to I’ve seen so many crappy business cards or ones that just weren’t worth a shit. The worst type of card you could get or even pass out as an affiliate marketer is a metal business card. I mean come on the edges on that stuff is sharp and its usually poorly embossed or stamped. And frankly I’ve been cut by metal business cards being handed out by some douche walking the floor or something. You might think its cool but hey its not and all the ones I got went right into the trash. Just say no to metal cards it isn’t impressive and doesn’t work well for you if you are an affiliate. Now my card, if you look above,  is double sided color and glossy. First this is a bad thing and a good thing being glossy. Some people who you talk to at conferences especially network owners or affiliate managers talk to so many people its hard to remember every single person. Typically the people who you talk to at booths will take your card scribble something about you on it and then stick it with all the other cards in their badge holder. Shawn Collins has figured this out and provided everyone at the Affiliate Summits with large id holders which can take about 30-50 cards and hold them pretty well. Unless you pretty much know alot of people in the industry already and they know you by face and name then by all means get a double sided glossy card. But if you are just starting out or haven’t been to shows before its a good idea to stick to a card that allows people with pens to write on them. Not everyone has a sharpie to write on glossy cards and if its a metal card forget it. Second this isn’t really...

Riley Pool dickrolls/meatspins the facebook ad review team lol

Mar 8, 2010

Riley Pool, an affiliate marketer and friend, got an interesting email from his facebook am and the ad review team over at facebook. Apparently he has the dickroll flash on the main index of his tracking domain or redirecting to makemoniesonline.  There have been plenty of times that I felt like dickrolling the review team for stupid reasons and what not but this is just hilarious. Somtimes the ad review team just deserves it. I’ve had ads that were disapproved saying that there was inappropriate language in the ad text when what it ended up being was that the persons age was in the title of the ad.  Just a fair warning whatever you do don’t visit the url below I warned you. Hi Riley, I work on the Ad Review team here at Facebook. I’d like to explain that when ads are submitted in large batches with different URLs, our system displays the root domain. In this case, the default is your index page which, at this time, features pornography. Our users never see this page, and we only see it as part of the way our system matches ads with landing pages. While you are by no means required to change this page, we’d greatly appreciate if you altered the content as a courtesy. Since we do review your ads on a regular basis, we are subject to this video. We apologize for any confusion. Thanks, Molly Online Sales Operations Facebook —–Original Message to Facebook—– From: Riley Pool () To: The Facebook Team Subject: Re: Pornography on tracking page You nor your users should ever see that page. And since I have unauthorized people trying to access that page and trying to fraudulently hack my tracking system I have my TLD redirected to that page. I monitor all traffic to that page in an attempt to track down these people who are trying to hack my tracking server so I would apreciate it if you don’t ever visit my main index page. The Shoemoney system and why I canceled within 15 days of signing up.

The Shoemoney system and why I canceled within 15 days of signing up.

Feb 17, 2010

Now this isn’t a rag post on Jeremy and the Shoemoney system. I’ve met Shoemoney and hung out with him a couple times at various parties in vegas and nyc. He mentioned to me he was doing a rebill and that the Shoemoney system would be going live soon. I figured why the hell not its only a couple hundred dollars a month lets see what its all about. Well being a well versed affiliate marketer I decided to go ahead anyway. 15 days into the program I canceled and got a refund. The Shoemoney system is really for beginners looking to get into affiliate marketing. It targets those not versed in all aspects of affiliate marketing and the networks that are in our industry that some of us deal with on a daily basis. The videos and web casts were great but the info I want or that would be a benefit to marketers such as myself wouldn’t be available or made available until later in the course and waiting that long while paying a couple hundred every month wouldn’t be cost effective. If you are looking to start in affiliate marketing and need a step by step guide I reccomend the Shoemoney system but for someone who is already in the industry it isn’t worth spending the money on. Jeremy on the other hand has created a good product and it covers all bases as a...
