Had a meeting with the CEO of Liquidweb and the Executive Team

Mar 31, 2011

I just got got out of a conference call meeting with Matthew Hill and the Executive Team over at www.liquidweb.com to discuss Storm On Demand and the future of cloud hosting. Liquidweb will be adding some new features and addons to Storm On Demand in the coming months and they wanted to run these by me since I’ve been with them for so long and have been such a valuable customer of theirs. We discussed the different features of their Storm on Demand product and where it will head in the future. I talked about possibly adding a cdn as currently I use amazon for that. I had expressed my displeasure with the time associated with resizing an existing instance or creating a new instance. They told me that just recently they implemented a new sizing scheme that reduces the amount of downtime now. I also expressed the fact that they don’t ability to have a windows environment on cloud just yet but they told me it is definitely coming soon. One thing that I was insistent on was that they have a prescience at adtech and affiliate summits. I’ve seen softlayer at some of these events but I don’t like them at all and I would rather see a company that provides heroic support such as Liquidweb at these events instead. I’ve been a liquidweb client for over 7 years and while over this time I have had servers at other locations and datacenters the service and support I’ve received from liquidweb has been top notch. I have never had to pay for a support ticket the techs have always been helpful, and I’ve always been able to get someone on the phone within mere minutes after calling into their support or sales line. My history at Liquidweb has encompassed vps’s and shared accounts, to dedicated servers and cloud instances using their storm on demand product. There was at one point when I had close to 15 servers at Liquidweb and was paying a buttload of cash a month. I’ve always been treated well by their techs and even though there had or have been mistakes in the past they have always done...

Where I stayed last year at ASW, If you can’t get a room stay here.

Dec 11, 2010

Last year at ASW me and a bunch of guys decided to stay at Palms Place instead of the rio. If you still haven’t found a place to stay and want a pretty nice place off the strip I highly recommend Palms Place. This 2 bedroom suite we got was basically awesome. We had two king beds, 2 pull out couch beds, 2.5 baths, 2 full kitchens, 3 balconies, and a bunch of other cool amenities. If you haven’t booked yet and don’t mind staying off the strip take a look at www.palmsplace.com and they have studios foing for 199 a night for sun through thurs.  ...

I bought a new scale that has wifi, yes a scale that has wifi…..

So there is this cool website called www.withings.com that has a wifi enabled scale. Basically this thing after you step on it gets your weight body fat percent and body mass index and uploads it to its website. I’ve been watching what I eat ever since I came back from adtech san fran and I’ve lost a total of  15lbs. It helps track everything for you and it can track multiple users. Then you can log into the website, share your graph or even use a free iphone app and look at your progress online. Take a look at a video of it...

Day 4 of trip to ADTech San Fran

Day 4 of trip to ADTech San Fran

Apr 24, 2010

Today was the opening day of the conf and I wanted to hit the floor early. Or what I call early. I got there at around 11am with about 2 hours to walk around because I wanted to hit up wichcraft for the affbuzz birthday party at 1pm. Now most aff’s don’t have a plan and just start wandering around. I really don’t understand this as you want to cover as much ground as possible and have a systematic approach. Also sometimes its easier to talk to people at booths alone. Right now in this industry stuff is getting hard for everyone on finding new traffic sources. So I went in and started at the first booth on the far right and just started walking up and down. Walking around was crazy and it was so hard to talk to some people it was so crowded. Around 12pm I met up with Laura and Mike from www.Getads.com and talked some business for a little bit. I had only gotten to see about 1/4 of the booths in that hour I was there. I decided to press on and continue making my way through the crowd. It started getting towards 1pm and I only made it half way through and we had to go to the affbuzz party. The affbuzz party was bumping. There were alot of people there and we basically overtook the upper floor of wichcraft. The majority of people on affbuzz showed up including myself. Credits for the pics go to http://johnathanvolk.com/ as he was running around with the biggest grin I ever seen taking pics like an asian mad man with his iphone. I met alot of people and introduced myself and a great time was had by all but it was getting to 2pm and it was time to head back to the conf to walk the floor again as I had only walked half way at this point. I headed back to the conf and walked around some more. It was good to see some old friends and make some new ones. I stopped at all my usual booths to see the networks I know and work with. Brittany...
