Adtech San Francisco and the Heavyt Recap.

Apr 18, 2011

So as I type this I’m in vegas sitting in a hotel room grinding away relaxing after adtech. This years adtech went pretty well. i feel I made more connections and did more business this adtech than any other I had been to. Surprisingly tho my only gripe at the show was that it was two floors and over half the people I talked to didn’t know there was a second floor. I flew into san fran on sunday and got in around 3pm. I headed over to the clift where I was staying and was immediately greeted by a couple of my friends who didn’t even give me a chance to shower before we went out for drinks. We walked down the street to the daily grill, which had amazing food by the way, and talked for a bit and had an appetizer or two in order to fill my stomach. Afterwards I had a dinner meeting with Lead Cola and a couple other affs. I must say for the next couple hours it was non stop fun, laughing, jokes, and good talk. I never seen so many people have such a good time at a dinner. My impressions of Lead Cola and the people who work there were thoroughly changed. I know alot of people have given them shit about their name but after getting to know them on a one on one basis I’ll be working with them in the future for sure. I read alot of stuff about them on affiliatepaying but what stuck out the most about the reviews were the pay schedules and was payouts, I’ve never known a company to give the highest payouts right away but these guys all you gotta do is ask. Everyone is really streated off the bat and people talking about getting 5 or 6 leads and complaining about payment schedule I’m sure people can be put on weekly wires if they do some volume. I wanted to thank Lead Cola for inviting me to the dinner and paying for the 80 some shots of patron we all had lol. After the dinner the affs and Lead Cola crew along with me...

If an affiliate ran over six figures, how important are they to you?

If an affiliate ran over six figures, how important are they to you?

Apr 16, 2011

Why am I posting this before my adtech recap you might ask, because I think its an important topic that begs the question, If an affiliate ran over six figures, how important are they to you? Let me ask this question, pose it to my readers. How important are affiliate relations to a company? How bad would it be to have an affiliate not taken care of who ran over 6 figures since the last conference. There is an affiliate that ran alot of traffic to a certain company that I know of. This affiliate cares alot about the manager/affiliate relationship as any should. But it seems that through out the last show his manager continually blew him off, as well as ignored attempts he made for them to meet with this manager. Now both individuals were there for a whole week, even tho the show wasn’t as long. Some background info, this affiliate who I “know” even 3 or 4 weeks ago made flight plans to go visit this company where there are located, to which the company agreed to put him up in a hotel for running as much money to the company as he did. This manager was supposed to show him the town he had never been to before, take in the sights, work at the company during the end of the week on his campaigns, and the weekend it was dinner, business, and being a tourist. This affiliate was then informed that because another pub could not decide what and where he wanted to meet this other manager, ie this manager was flying out to see this pub when he visits to the usa, that the other was more important and couldn’t lock down any time since she, oops, they wanted to keep their schedule open. Now back to adtech. This company, despite asking many times asking didn’t have anything planned but at the last minute a meet and greet was arranged but unfortunately this affliate had his meetings schedule booked a week or two in advance of the show so something so spontanious, last minute, and well short notice wouldn’t have been even considered with the ppv playbook...

ASW11 Recap, yeah I know its late but I been busy….

ASW11 Recap, yeah I know its late but I been busy….

Feb 17, 2011

I decided to fly in a couple days early to Vegas. I typically like to fly in early to shows and fly out a day or two after. Flying in on friday night. The day started off sucking because of the weather on the east coast and the snow storm that friday delayed my plane for 6 hours. basically instead of getting into vegas around 10am we got in around 7pm. My parents flew in from hawaii and picked me up from the airport and we headed to the hotel. I got a great deal on the hotel at the mirage and stayed for 6 nights for under 500 bucks, I love how I can find deals like that. Friday night I ended up catching the Love show and it was absolutely amazing, there is so much going on that I want to see it again. They said that if you saw it 10 times in a row there would still be new things that you hadn’t see before. My most favorite part was the little tricycles and the yellow boots. After the love show Justin from ECM and a couple other firends met at the house of blues and we grabbed something to eat. After we talked a bit and everyone running off every 10 mins for a smoke break decided to call it a night and head to bed. On Saturday we all went out for dim sum for lunch at one of the best dim sum places in Vegas, the spread was nice and the food was pretty spot on for chinatown in nyc. After lunch we decided to have a little fun and head to pole position right next to palms place. We ended up racing a couple laps and had a great time, those things are so damn fast for electric karts. Later on Saturday we ended up going to see phantom, I loved the movie and I loved the Broadway Show. The Phantom did a good job of capturing the essence of the full show in the short amount of time. Sunday I got up early to go and get my badge and hooked up with Pheonix Morgan,...

Day 3 and 4 of AdTech NYC 2010

Day 3 and 4 of AdTech NYC 2010

Nov 9, 2010

After a long night partying Thursday morning I ended up sleeping in and got up around 1pm and hit the show floor around 2pm. I quickly made my way up and down the show floor again just in case I missed a booth and also grabbed a bunch of schwag from all the booths. I have to say I hope you didn’t have shitty schwag at the conference otherwise you might be ragged on about it soon, but I’m gonna keep quiet about that right now. I was talking to a couple affiliates at the c2m booth and seeing who was staying the night and decided to put together a private dinner for us and rounded some people up who were able to attend. Along the way at the conference I ran into Eleah and said hi and talked a bit about adsimilis, who also by the way sponsored the ASE Affiliate Dinner so hit her and them up, and where she’s wants to take the company now that she’s working there. As we were chatting it up guess who decided to stop by, Mr. I’m loud on twitter and even louder in person, Mr. Donkey rope I’m anything but broke Mr. Cheya Boi.  It was great to meet him and hang out for a bit and shoot the shit and talk business on a couple things. It was funny actually cause at this point the conf was over and people were ripping down booths and we were all sitting in the beer garden so Rob aka bofizzle decided to meetup and we all chilled some more till we said f this lets get out of here. So  for dinner I decided on Capitol Grille on 42nd as its a wonderful place to eat. Some people of the group didn’t know what to expect but a great time was had by all. The service was great even tho we were a little loud at times and ended up shutting the place down. So after a couple hours of good conversation, drinks, and good food we decided to bounce. Standing outside I called a limo and we all piled in, this time I did wait...

Day 2 of AdTech NYC 2010

Day 2 of AdTech NYC 2010

Nov 7, 2010

Wednesday morning we got up and got ready to hit the show floor. Now in the past I’ve talked about how I see people wandering around the show not knowing which direction to hit. My plan is I usually start at one corner and just working up and down to the other side of the conference. The floor was packed the first day and I saw alot of people who came up and said they read my blog or thanked me for throwing the last public affiliate meetup/dinner at Maison at ASE. I noticed this year that there was alot more corporate types in the crowd than affiliates compared to adtech last year. My boy BoFu was manning his booth over at c2m talking it up with friends and new potential affiliates. I’m proud of him and I think it will be a very good fit over there at c2m with Ruck and the crew. In all it took about 3 hours to hit all the booths and do my business at which point it was close to 2pm where at that point I had a business meeting at the London bar. While walking around the floor I ran into Shawn Collins and Missy Ward and said hi, I haven’t talked to them since ASE and Shawn reminded me of the meetup across form the london at the pub upstairs. So after my meeting with a couple people at the london we made our way over to the Aff Summit meetup which was a blast. I don’t know how many times I’ve mentioned how people throw parties but nobody every throws something where you can meetup talk eat and have a few drinks without loud music preventing you from networking. We stuck around the Aff Summit meetup with Shawn and Missy for a while until it was time to get ready for the Mailer Meetup, Epic Direct party, and the Engage BDR Party. We headed back to the hotel and got ready and headed over to the mailer meetup. Now I gotta say this, I appreciate the sponsors and what was done to create a venue for mailers to get together and talk mailing...
